Job summary

We are excited to be advertising for a Paediatric Clinical Quality Lead. We are seeking an experienced nurse or allied health professional with a strong interest in quality to progress the patient safety agenda.

It is an exciting time to join the Paediatric team at Walsall due to the expansion and progression of the service. PAU is housed in a state-of-the-art purpose-built unit; the unit is leading the way in progressing virtual wards and a new team structure is creating a new dynamic way of team working. We are leading the way with digital innovation.

The Paediatric department includes of a 21-inpatient ward, a 12 bedded PAU, an elective day care unit, a virtual ward, children community nursing team and outpatient's department.

To be successful you will need to have a mature, compassionate, and sensitive manner with a genuine desire and passion to help people and progress quality. You must be able to show the trust values of Respect, Compassion, Teamwork and Professionalism in all that you do.

The role will forms part of the Senior Nursing team within paediatrics and neonates including the on-call rota.

Main duties of the job

In a supervisory role, utilise supervision of clinical practice, clinical audit and research, to set, monitor and improve standards of care in addition to efficient and effective use of resources.

To be accountable for:

Ensuring safe and effective clinical practice across all professionals within the care group.

Enhancing the patient's experience.

Managing and monitoring the progression of high-quality clinical care.

Ensuring effective contribution to the delivery of the organisation's objectives

Deputising for Matron on quality matters

The post holder will provide leadership, advice, guidance and support to directors, managers, clinicians and staff on all quality and governance issues that affect the organisation, its employees and service users relating to paediatric concerns.

The post forms part of the senior nurse on call rota for the Care Group.

About us

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. A new Urgent Emergency Care Centre was opened in March 2023. The two-storey development has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity and has provided almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.

Report incidents and near misses promptly and appropriately and take effective action to minimise future risk.

Identify, provide support and assist the Care Group and Governance team with the ongoing development of a proactive approach to risk management and robust governance in the organisation.

To write key documents within the PSIRF framework. and to be responsible for the outcome reports following the PSIRF framework and monitoring compliance of action.
