Job summary
To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary TB team to provide a coordinated approach to assessing and meeting the care needs of patients with Tuberculosis, their contacts, and carers of these patients. To include those requiring preventative interventions including vaccination and Chemoprophylaxis
Will provide clinical expertise and advice on the prevention, surveillance, investigation and management of TB to patients and all disciplines of staff.
Develop strategies, review and update specialist TB policies and protocols, in order to promote and maintain the highest standards of practice that is evidence and research based.
To provide training and education to increase awareness of TB issues within the Trust and community, including working with other organisations to reach the most vulnerable and hard to reach members of the community.

The post holder is joint responsible for leading the development and implementation of the TB service. To provide highly specialist nursing management for an individual client caseload, delivering high quality care in a variety of settings, outpatient clinics, hospital wards, client's home and over the telephone.
The post holder is expected to perform specialist clinical assessment, monitoring complex drug regimens and supporting patients to promote treatment compliance and completion. Delivering specialised care plan that may involve other agencies. Clinical decision making in managing complex cases using the latest national and local guidance.
To also independent run nurse-led clinics, making clinical decisions on the clinical needs and management of patients, initiating chest x-rays, blood tests, samples for TB culture, including performing Mantoux skin testing and BCG vaccination according to agreed to local protocols and Patient Group Directions Policy.
Work closely with TB/Respiratory Consultant and Infection and Prevention Control team to provide specialist advice to other clinicians on the investigation and clinical management of patients with known or suspected TB. To risk assess and take appropriate actions, in accordance with the Trust's Risk management/Infection Control Policy, in order to prevent the transmission of TB.
