An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Safeguarding leader who is highly motivated with positive energy and enthusiasm to join an established Safeguarding Team, at Walsall Healthcare Trust. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated, well organised practitioner, who will work within the Safeguarding Team with dedicated responsibility to work as the Deputy Head of Safeguarding.
The post holder will assist the Head of Safeguarding to meet the application and delivery of statutory and regulatory duties relating to safeguarding, ensuring the organisation's workforce is confident and competent to identify and work in partnership to protect children and vulnerable adults.
The ideal candidate will be expected to work in a demanding environment and must be able to adapt to change to meet the service requirements and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines. In addition, the post holder must have the ability to multi-task whilst always remaining calm and professional.
The candidate should have leadership and management experience and be confident to provide safe and effective safeguarding services across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Head of Safeguarding in their role in the delivery of the Trust (adults and children's) strategic and operational objectives working across the whole Trust.
The post holder will deputise for the Head of Safeguarding and assume leadership responsibility for specific areas of work and will oversee a range of agreed projects and influence strategic direction in conjunction with the Head of Safeguarding and Director of Nursing.
It is recognised that this Senior role requires an experienced safeguarding professional who has the knowledge and capacity to offer advice and support for more complex professional issues to a variety of stakeholders both within and externally to the Trust.

Be a visible leader within the Trust with the responsibility and accountability for ensuring professional standards are robust in regard to safeguarding governance and quality.
To have a significant role supporting Walsall Safeguarding Board Partnership activities including participation at committees on behalf of the Trust.

Manage a devolved budget for a number of service areas ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
Contribute along with Head of Safeguarding to the planning and execution of cost improvement programmes ensuring the quality of care is risk assessed and managed appropriately.
In conjunction with the Head of Safeguarding lead on quality improvements to enhance the patient journey.
To respond to Trust safeguarding enquiries and act as a professional resource on a regular basis,
