Job summary

The post holder will practice independently within the Emergency Care of Medicine. This clinically focussed role will encompass the skills of overall departmental coordination, clinical floor management responsibilities, education and mentorship. This will result in the post holder providing exemplary patient-centred and sound evidenced based care to patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

The post holder will provide senior clinician support and support to trainee clinicians during a span of duty. The post holder will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and clinical attributes, enabling him/her to provide expert clinical and professional support to other clinicians and staff.

This post is a fixed term/secondment opportunity for a twelve month period.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a qualified Senior Advanced Clinical Practitioner (sACP) to join the ED team and to support the development of trainee clinicians within the department. The department currently recruits trainee ACP's that require line management, educational and clinical support. The post holder will have already completed a masters in advanced practice or equivalent.

The post holder will have 4/5 years previous experience of working within a busy Emergency Department as an ACP and demonstrate excellent leadership skills whilst working autonomously. Clinically, the role encompasses the requirement to manage patients care plans presenting atanyage withanylevel of acuity. The post holder will also be expected to develop and deliver education programmes that support the further development of junior and trainee clinicians.

The post holder will be required to carry out a full range of Accident & Emergency practical procedures and have the high standards of communication skills which will provide assurance to all aspects of management, leadership and quality of care.

About us

In December 2018 the Government announced £36m of funding to build a new Emergency Department and 30 bedded Acute Medical Unit. The ED team are working with Interserve Construction on this state-of-the-art development to help us meet increasing patient flow demands. The new Emergency Department will offer a combined Urgent Treatment Centre and a co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit as part of the Paediatric Emergency Department.

The successful applicant will join a team of four other experienced sACP clinicians helping to shape the future of emergency care. We are keen to attract some of the best talent in the country to help us actualise our aim of becoming a national leader in advanced clinical practice.
