Undertakes the provision of pre-assessing patients for elective admissions. Will organise nurse led clinics to ensure all patients have been assessed and are prepared for surgery.
Will assist in procedure and General Gynaecology clinics in Gynaecology Outpatients department and support Gynaecological Cancer pathway.
18 months Fixed term contract (Secondment will be considered)
37.5 hours per week
Must be currently on UK NMC register
12 months post registration experience required
Main duties of the job
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care to meet the needs of patients, supporting the Primary Nurse in the provision of care.
Provides first level registered nurse support to junior staff.
Contributes to the maintenance of a safe environment having due regard to legislative and 'Trust' requirements.
Assists in the teaching supervision of trained and untrained staff, including, where applicable, learner nurses.
Is required to carry out relevant test on patients in accordance with Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Policy and to register any additional skills acquired because of enhanced practice.
Provide support, supervision and assessment for all learners, students and staff receiving education or training in clinical practice.
To be aware and observe fully the employees under the Health & Safety at Work Act and to observe all the Trust's policies relating to Health & safety and Risk Management.
To have responsibility for ensuring a commitment to maintaining a high quality of service to patients by continual development of practice in the light of research evidence and audit against clinically relevant standards.

1. Educate and prepare women for Gynaecology Outpatient procedures including colposcopy and hysteroscopy procedures.2. Ensure maintenance and safe use of all equipment. .3. Following training perform unsupervised ring pessary changes, making clinical decision whether medical input is required.4. Performs clinical care for women within the outpatient clinic andproviding emergency care as required.5. Contributes to the fulfillment of the health promotion agenda givingadvice and counselling as required. 6. Receives information concerning patients history which includes sensitive issues particularly related to Gynaecology.7. Participates in the efficient management of the clinical service by time-managing designated workload.
8.Co-ordinates the efforts of junior staff where appropriate on ashift basis and readily identifies issues taking corrective action where appropriate andreporting to senior colleagues at the earliest opportunity.8. Ensures that all written communication within the service is clear concise and timely and complies with the NMC standards for records and record-keeping.9. Contributes to the effective management of ward/department resources by ensuring safe storage, supply and use of medicines, ward stock, equipment and patients valuables in line with local policies and NMC guidelines. Maintains stock control and security of stock undertaking re-ordering as required.10. Contributes to the health and safety of patients and colleagues by keeping abreast of changes in Health and Safety Legislation and policies.11. Participates in the clinical governance agenda by contributing and commenting on the development, implementation and audit of evidence based guidelines and policy development.
12. Identifies clinical incidents and risks/potential complaints/accidents and commences remedial action and documentation. Reports theincident to the appropriate person and participates in the investigation as required.
