Job summary
This is a new Locum Consultant post in General Medicine to commence in December 2023 for three months. The post is for 10 Programmed Activities per week with an additional PA available subject to negotiation.
This post is a temporary post for three months, to support the Trust during winter pressures.
The patients in this ward will be General Medicine patients.
The job holder will be accountable to the Divisional Director of MLTC, Dr Nuhu Usman.
Responsibilities include daily ward rounds, working alongside the nursing team to ensure high quality of care is provided to patients. The expectation is to follow Trust policies whilst managing patients.
Main duties of the job
- To have a responsibility to provide a high-quality clinical care to patients in General Internal Medicine services and to continuously update practice based on evidence-based medicine and audit.
- Proactively engage with the multi-disciplinary team within Intermediate Care Services offering specialist advice and support as required.
- To support teaching and training of nurses, junior medical staff, medical students and to contribute to postgraduate medical education in general.
- To undertake educational/clinical supervisor duties for junior doctors.
- To support and encourage audit and research.
- To actively participate in CPD and personal development plans.

- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via:- CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), European Community Rights or CESR , Evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Upper GI/General Surgery (or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview)
