Job summary
This replacement substantive consultant post is for 8PA, we welcome applicants wishing to work less than full time. The position will be responsible for delivering general adult clinics, cancer clinics and theatre sessions. There is flexibility for the introduction of specialist interest clinics, paediatric clinics, research clinics and/or advanced surgical sessions.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a very welcoming, ambitious, expanding dermatology team with an ever-growing reputation for excellence. The Dermatology service at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is well supported by management and the Black Country Provider Collaborative. The department is based across two hospitals and the candidate will work at both sites. The department has recently received substantial investment in new theatres and hosts the regional Mohs Micrographic Surgery service. We also host a supra-regional vitiligo service and are research active.
Main duties of the job
1. To assist the current team and have responsibility for ensuring a commitment to provide high quality Dermatology Services to patients by continual development of practice in the light of evidence-base, and clinical standards.
2. To partake in Cancer MDT designated work working towards Cancer 2020 delivery.
3. To provide advice to colleagues in other specialities on dermatology care.
4. To provide a comprehensive Outpatient service and day case service
5. To provide clinical support and teaching to Junior Medical Staff, Medical Students and Postgraduate Medical Education.
6. To support and encourage audit and research.
7. To have responsibility for ensuring a commitment to maintaining a high quality of service to patients.
8. To actively participate in CPD and personal development plans.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated organisation providing community and acute hospital services within the local health economy with a total income of just over £220 million. The Trust directly employs over 4000 staff making us one of the largest employers in Walsall.
The hospital site was substantially redeveloped between 2007 and 2010 and has 550 acute beds. It also comprises of outpatient, diagnostic and treatment facilities for short stay cases whilst the upgraded older building provides emergency care.

Qualifications
Essential
- Basic Medical Degree
- Full MRCP (or equivalent)
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register within 6 months of interview via (CCT or European Community Rights/CESR)
Training and Clinical Experience
Essential
- Evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Dermatology (or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview)
- A wide experience in Dermatology
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
- Ability to offer expert clinical advice on range of problems
