Job summary

Professionally accountable to the Head of Safeguarding, the post holder will support the Safeguarding Team to protect adults / young people / children. The post holder will work as part of a dynamic multi-agency integrated team, teaching, supervision, assessing notifications, managing referrals, offering advice to staff in regard to all aspects of safeguarding, including Mental Capacity.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with a range of key professionals to contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of services designed to protect children and young people and adults from harm and promote their welfare through safeguarding processes.

Demonstrating an understanding of the issues relating to identification, assessment, treatment and management of vulnerable children and adults.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Minimum of 18 months post registration experience
  • Evidence of involvement in relevant safeguarding activity
  • Experience of managing resources
  • Experience of working with people with mental health concerns
  • Experience of applying the Mental Capacity Act
  • Evidence of continued learning
  • Experience of auditing
  • Knowledge of the legal and statutory legalisation for safeguarding

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

  • Registered Nurse / Midwife / AHP / Social Worker.
  • Teaching qualification / or experience of teaching
  • Degree in healthcare / social care or working towards
  • Evidence of continuing professional evidence based practice.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Evidence of undertaking role working with children, young people and families
  • Detailed and thorough knowledge of current safeguarding legislation and guidelines
