Main duties of the job

In this highly specialist clinical role you will be expected to provide advanced clinical care in Cardiac Rhythm Management whilst providing support for diagnostic and interventional activity in the Cardiac Care Lab.

Applicants must have BHRS Device accreditation/IBHRE Certification (or be working towards completing your logbook).

As a highly specialist cardiac physiologist, you will be expected to oversee the day-to-day clinical aspects of patient care within the main hospital in Dorchester and off-site in Community Diagnostic Hubs located around West Dorset.

Beyond the clinical duties you will also be responsible for the daily operational demands of the service, supervising and supporting junior staff, developing educational programmes, training and competency assessment, SoPs and clinical guidelines. You will work under the in-house leadership team but be expected to deputise for the Lead of CRM during periods of absence.

Education, Qualification & Training

Essential

  • BSc Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or recognised equivalent (BTEC or HNC MPPM)
  • ILS Certificate
  • BHRS Accreditation or IBHRE Certification
  • Professional registration (RCCP, AHCS, HCPC)

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrate significant experience at Senior Cardiac Physiologist level or above in CRM device implant and follow up.
  • Evidence of expertise in managing complex CRM programming
  • Minimum of 3yrs post qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development commitment

Desirable

  • Evidence of contributing towards service Development initiatives (i.e. new technology, SoP's, research, training and education)
  • Experience of using high value equipment and knowledge of pacemaker prescription
  • Experience of remote monitoring in CRM services
  • Evidence of ability to assist with diagnostic monitoring during cardiac catheterisation and PCI
