An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Technician in Aseptic Services to join our established, friendly and progressive Pharmacy team at Dorset County Hospital.
We are looking for an ambitious, highly motivated and dynamic pharmacy Technician wanting to join our aseptic team. You should be a dynamic and resourceful Pharmacy Technician and have experience in auditing, managing workloads and problem solving skills as well as excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
The Aseptic team comprises of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Science Manufacturing Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants. You will be expected to manage the day to day running of the aseptic unit alongside the principal technician, training of staff and promote health, safety and quality issues. You will be a highly valued member of the Pharmacy and should be committed to delivering outstanding patient experience.
The post includes weekend working rota.The candidate should hold a nationally recognised Pre & In Process Checking qualification. The candidate must have current/recent experience in line management as well as operational responsibilities.
Main duties of the job
- To be part of a team of pharmacists, technicians and assistants providing a timely and accurate supply of aseptically prepared pharmaceuticals to wards and departments in Dorset County Hospital.
- To deputise in the absence of the principal technician for the technical delivery of the pharmacy aseptic and cancer services at Dorset County Hospital.
- To manage and prioritise the workload to ensure the timely delivery of chemotherapy and CIVAS products for adult and paediatric patients.
- To work independently and as part of a team ensuring work is undertaken in line with policies and procedures.
- To manage the team of technicians and support staff within the pharmacy aseptic unit.
- To provide training and support for ongoing development in aseptic techniques for all relevant personnel.
- To promote Health and Safety and quality issues within the pharmacy service.
- To participate in training and accreditations including intrathecal training, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) for clinical trials and mandatory training to meet the demands of the service.
- To act as a line manager.
- To participate in weekend working duties as rostered.
