Senior Research Nurse

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced registered nurse with oncology and haematology experience to join the busy research team. The post holder will be responsible for the care of research participants and trial data management. This will require the deployment of administrative, analytical and interpersonal skills alongside an aptitude for securing multi-departmental and professional support for clinical trials through effective communication at all levels of the organisations involved. Established clinical nursing skills and expert communication is essential.

This is a 37.5 hours per week post.

Main duties of the job

  • Working closely clinical teams to oversee the development of research portfolios in line with strategic aims.
  • Involve patients and relatives/carers in the process and management of clinical trials utilising established nursing skills.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring meaningful consent is given by all research participants.
  • Have respect for patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Acknowledge individual participant needs in spiritual, religious and cultural matters.
  • Collection of body tissue, such as blood, tumour or urine. Storing and shipping of such tissue.
  • Where appropriately qualified and delegated, prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice.
