Part time Consultant Orthodontist

Job summary

This part time fixed term post is perfect for a Consultant whose longer term goal is to retire to the South West, a newly qualified Consultant waiting for the right job to come up closer to home, or a Consultant with commitments elsewhere (but can offer us regular sessions on a fixed term basis).

We are flexible on the sessions available (2-6 sessions) and the length of the fixed term contract (12-24 months)

You will join a dynamic team, in a beautiful part of the world. Although our case mix is complex, we support each other in planning and delivering care. We are a friendly department, focusing on high quality patient centred care delivered with compassion.

Main duties of the job

You will:

  • Provide orthodontic care for patients in the east of Dorset with complex orthodontic needs
  • Supervise multidisciplinary teams to deliver cleft, orthognathic and hypodontia care
  • Deliver high quality, customer focused care

Education, Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Full GDC registration
  • Entry on the GDC Specialist Register
  • To have undertaken an MScD or DDS or equivalent
  • Successfully completed ISFE or shortly to sit the ISFE (must be within 6 months of interview)

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in managing complex orthodontic cases
  • Ability to take responsibility for delivering the service required of a consultant

Desirable

  • Experience in managing and involvement in treating patients presenting with Cleft Lip and Palate deformaties, patients requiring Orthognathic surgery and Hypodontia
