Job summary
The successful applicant will support the existing dermatology team in providing a Dermatology inpatient and outpatient service (see further detail on Roles and Responsibilities below).
The Dermatology service for the population of West Dorset is based at Dorset County Hospital. A weekly high volume fast track skin lesion clinic is provided at the outpatient assessment centre, South Walks House, also in Dorchester. A monthly dermatology clinic is provided at Blandford Community hospital, with possibility of expanding Community provision. The workload in 2023/24 was 4599 new patients and 4399 follow-ups.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support the existing Dermatology team in providing a Dermatology inpatient and outpatient service, Dermatology opinions for inpatient referrals, Virtual triage and Electronic Advice & Guidance (Teledermatology services) to GPs. They will work independently following allocation of patients by the Consultant Dermatologist team. They will participate in weekly skin cancer MDT meetings. They will work closely with and help supervise the multi-professional group within the Dermatology department. They will also participate in supervision and training of other healthcare professionals, including GPs with Extended Roles in West Dorset, according to local agreement between Dorset County Hospital, commissioners and other providers.
