Job summary

We are seeking a reliable, dynamic and enthusiastic Courier Driver to join the Transport team at Dorset County Hospital.

  • To provide an efficient courier service between the Trust and other health establishments across the county of Dorset
  • A courier service to deliver and collect mail, specimens, vaccines, medical records and occasionally medical gases

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a courier service which, sorts, delivers and collects mail and sundry items & specimens to and from various healthcare establishments in Dorset and to acute Trusts such as Salisbury, Royal Bournemouth, Poole and Southampton

Education

Essential

  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence

Desirable

  • GCSE (grade C or above) in English and Maths or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of local area
  • Some experience of working within a Healthcare facilities environment

Desirable

  • Experience of working with a range of staff at all levels.
  • Experience in managing workload to meet deadlines and standards
  • Experience of driving passenger/ and or light goods vehicles

Skills

Essential

  • Evidence of attention to detail and the ability to work without close supervision within broad procedural guidelines.
  • Evidence of ability to make decisions within defined boundaries
  • Evidence of ability to work as part of a team.
