Are you interested in a new role where you can combine working towards advanced clinical practice with cutting edge Digital Medicine initiatives?
This vacancy allows you to provide clinical services, become a pharmacist non-medical prescriber (NMP) and develop your leadership skills. You will be helping to integrate and lead Digital Medicines Teams, across two Trusts as they work more closely together in a collaborative way, whilst at the same time being a valued member of the Clinical Pharmacy Team. You will be supported in your development towards advanced practice.
You would be closely involved with the new joint Dorset/Somerset Electronic Health Record (EHR) which will replace our existing electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) systems into one integrated health record.
You will become a specialist clinical and digital medicines expert. This post could be the start of an exciting career progression that ultimately could lead to a post as an organisation's Digital Clinical Safety Lead, Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) or even Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Main duties of the job
Working across both Dorset County Hospital and Dorset HealthCare Trusts:
To credential against the advanced practice framework, and to utilise knowledge by advising on digital medicines initiatives, projects and developments.
To work towards practice that is characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making and encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, core capabilities and area specific clinical competence.
To become a Clinical Safety Officer, write DCB 0160 compliant clinical safety cases for digital medicines projects as well as working with the broader clinical safety teams across the organisations, influencing change and advising on medicines safety with regards to broader digital projects.

This position will be based at Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester with the potential to work at Dorset Healthcare.

Direct trains link London (2.5hrs), Weymouth (10mins) and the South West including Bristol and Bath. The Jurassic Coastline, an area of outstanding natural beauty, and the National Sailing Academy are only eight miles away.
Dorset County Hospital has a Trust-wide commitment for implementing digital technologies to optimise patient safety and streamline communication at the interface with primary care. The pharmacy department was redesigned and a state-of-the-art robot was fitted in 2020. Electronic prescribing (EPMA) is in place across the Trust.
