Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term / 12 month secondment as a Ward leaders Administrator to provide support for the Surgical Managers on Abbotsbury and Lulworth Wards.

This post is for a position of 37.5 hours a week.

12 month secondment available.12 month fixed-term contract.This will be great experience at band 3.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic administrator to join our team. Communication and interpersonal skills within the multidisciplinary team are a significant part of the role. Candidates should significant administrative experience and be able to work unsupervised. Candidates will need good organisation skills and be competent with using Microsoft Word, Excell and Office.

You will provide administration support to two Ward Managers and cover a wide range of duties including typing, minute taking and be confident in liaising with staff.

The successful candidate will be flexible and adaptable to a varied workload and be able to promote the Trust's values.

Main duties of the job

Appraisal - Monitor when appraisals are due and book in (send out all paperwork with calendar invite).

Probationary Reviews - Monitor the probation review ensuring all employees have a review at start/2 weeks/3 months/6 months, book reviews with team lead.

Sickness - Arrange meetings, send out invite letters, send out updated sickness letters.

New Starters - Prepare files with all new starter packs ready for first day. Regularly check in on all new starters.

Minutes - As and when required to include agendas and action lists.

Filing - all filing on both wards.

Adhoc Staff Letters - as and when required, compose letters.

ESR - doing any changes to contracts/hours/secondments.

Diary - Manage both sisters' diaries by booking appointments and training.

Source and organise training relevant to staff roles outside of their mandatory training.

Departmental Divisional slides every month.

And much, much more!!

We aim to provide you with 2 weeks training with the current post holder.

The successful applicant will be joining a positive, friendly and supportive team focused on goals driven by patient experience and evidence based best practice.

Lulworth Ward is a general surgical ward with a friendly and professional team that will provide an ideal environment for applicants to develop their skills, knowledge and competency in the challenging demands of caring for the acute surgical patient. We have on ward support from a clinical practice educator and work closely with the relevant specialist nurses and also support from the discharge team for the complex discharge.

Lulworth Ward is a 31 bedded ward where you will need to be able to care for patients before and after surgery and be involved in all aspects of care from admission to discharge. You will need to be able to adapt to the changing workload whilst delivering compassionate, safe high-quality care.
