Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust & Dorset Healthcare Foundation Trust have an exciting transformation and improvement agenda and this role will be central to ensuring our change is clinically led. From the Working Together Programme, to the Clinical Acute Networks for Dorset, the Out of Hospital Care Models, and internal service and quality improvement the Associate Medical Director will work to support the delivery of change across all of these programme.
The Associate Chief Medical Officer will work within the medical leadership teams of each Trust and support the transformation programme SROs in ensuring clinically led change. Line management responsibility will be to the Director of Strategy and Transformation. Professional Accountability will be to the appropriate Chief Medical Officers.

Main duties of the job
- To play a leading role in designing the transformation programme across the organisation.
- Expectation that the role of ACMO will work within the medical leadership team of both Trusts and support the Transformation Programme SROs in ensuring clinically led change and that professional accountability is to the both CMOs
- To play a leadership role in engaging with teams, hosting events, chairing meetings etc to consider complex organisational problems and arrive at a consensus regarding transformational change.
- To represent the Trust as required in attending or leading external meetings, such as system meetings, GIRFT etc.
- To be responsible for the successful delivery of workstreams / projects as agreed with the Deputy CEO.
- To play a leadership role in the delivery of more cost-efficient models of care and the delivery of any associated cash releasing savings.
- Alongside or deputising for the Deputy CEO, present updates on progress regarding the transformation agenda to relevant groups, including the Senior Leadership Group and the Board of Directors as required.
- Encouraging a culture that promotes Clinical Effectiveness, Clinical Audit, Innovation, Research and Development and to deputise for the CMO where required to support the Research and Development Director.
- To deputise, as required, for the CMO and MDs at a range of Trust Committees and groups
- To provide senior medical support, as directed by the CMO / MDs to relevant Trust wide roles.

We are seeking a clinical leader with a proven track record of leadership and innovation, as well as someone who is able to support clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels of the organisation to think differently and develop new clinical models.
The role is between 4-8PA negotiable dependent on individual circumstances and will be subject to discussion, we will expect that PAs are split equally between DCH and DHC. The role offers great flexibility in terms of working hours and remote working.
