We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a motivated maternity matron to join our friendly maternity service. This post has arisen due to the retirement of our current matron

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide clinical and managerial leadership for all aspects of intrapartum and inpatient antenatal care, ensuring that action is taken at all levels to empower midwives to provide high standards of care in collaboration with the multi-professional team. The post holder will be highly visible and recognisable to patients, relatives and staff and act as a champion for clinical excellence, safety and professional accountability.
The postholder will provide line management for a number of senior midwives as well as the Maternity Reception and Administrative team
The postholder will be expected to champion innovation and provide a conduit for suggestions around quality and safety.
The postholder will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of infection prevention and control measures and will ensure a high standard of cleanliness on the ward.
The postholder will lead on all aspects of their specialty with responsibility for performance management as it arises. The role will actively contribute to the development of service objectives.
The post holder will act in such a manner that upholds the values of the Trust and that of the profession, ensuring that service delivered contributes to support the principles of clinical governance.
The post holder will take their share of the manager oncall for maternity and neonatal services
