We have an exciting opportunity for a full time qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC to join our aseptic team. Are you looking for a new challenge in your career? Full training and a progression position from band 5 to 6 will be offered to a suitable candidate.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of a motivated team of technicians and assistants working in the aseptic unit, leading the daily workload in providing chemotherapy to patients in the Trust. You will also work in the dispensary, supporting the dispensary team lead in supplying inpatients, outpatients and outside hospitals/units and helping with our expanding clinical trials service. The ideal candidate should have previous experience of working in aseptic services including clinical trials and will have current GCP training.
About us
Dorset County Hospital (400 beds) was officially opened in May 1998 and has a modern, bright, spacious and friendly working environment. The hospital is situated within easy walking distance of the historic town of Dorchester, which is eight miles from the spectacular Jurassic Coast ideal for sports and outdoor activities. It is also within easy reach of areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the New Forest, the natural harbour of Poole, and one of Britain's best beaches at Bournemouth.
The recently renovated Pharmacy provides a clinical pharmacy and medicines management service to Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (which includes a county wide renal service). The dispensary benefits from a new BD dispensing robot, an electronic prescription tracking system and a full Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system (Careflow Medicines Management, formerly JAC), which is also our existing stock control, accounting and dispensing system.

Essential
- BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy and/or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
- Registered with GPhC
- Accredited in Pre and In Process Checking
Desirable
- Qualified Product Approver or willing to undertake PAAP training.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Significant experience as a pharmacy technician at Band 5 or above in an aseptic unit.
- Experience of training technicians and pharmacy assistants in aseptics
- Experience of Line Management

- Experience of working within clinical trials

- Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative, able to plan and organise straightforward activities, adjusting plans and priorities as necessary depending on circumstances.

- Ability to work flexibly and participate in weekend working, Bank Holiday rotas and other rotas as operational duties require.
