Healthcare Support Worker -Maud Alexander Ward Urgent & Integrated Care Band 2

Maud Alexander Ward is an Acute Medical Unit receiving patients from the Emergency Department.

Patients are assessed and treated and either discharged from the Unit or transferred to an appropriate ward.

We are looking for a dynamic Healthcare Support Worker to work in our multi-disciplinary team, ensuring a patient focused and individualised approach.

We are a small admissions unit working with a high turnover of patients and see and treat adult patients with a range of medical conditions.

We have full time vacancies for motivated Healthcare Support Workers to join Maud Alexander Ward.

Main duties of the job

To ensure quality care and support service which enables patients to be supported throughout their care pathway whilst promoting independence and protecting choice, dignity, privacy and safety.

To work in support ofallqualified staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care without direct supervision of a registered practitioner

To work as an associate practitioner in ensuring that holistic care is delivered, and standards of care are enhanced.

To communicate effectively at all times within the team, other health care professionals and with the patient, family and carers.

Ensure high standards are maintained in a safe environment, which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals.

To regularly assess, evaluate and report on actions and activities to registered staff.

To supervise and delegate work to junior members of the team.

Act as a resource and role model to others involved on the ward

Participate in the development, planning and delivery of care

The role of a Healthcare Support Worker is a very privileged role. As a HCSW you will provide personal care and support to patients at their most vulnerable times. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide a compassionate, caring and safe environment for our patients.

  • Have an eye for detail and be able to maintain accurate documentation.

  • English Functional skills level 1/ GCSE D-G
  • Maths Functional skills level 1/ GCSE D-G

Desirable

  • Completion of the Care Certificate
