Job summary

It is an exciting time to join Radiology IT Team. We have CQC and GIRFT commendations for our Radiology IT developments.

Dorset County Hospital is placed with clinical workflows that cross several different geographical boundaries and has required innovative solutions to support its services.

This has led to many leading edge digital developments especially for the Radiology service which is regularly an early adopter or developer of solutions.

DCH radiology is a digital environment from requesting via ICE Order Comm to Radiology results notification via CRIS communicator and an image sharing solution that delivers an integrated imaging record across 6 different Trusts.

The new Deputy Radiology IT Systems Manager role comes at an exciting time and will be pivotal in further development of the digital aspects of our services.

Main duties of the job

To be a Trust Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Deputy to the lead for Radiology IT Systems.

This includes:

Picture Archive and Communications System (PACS),

Radiology Information System (RIS),

Voice recognition (VR)

ICE Order Communications for Radiology

Other systems connected to PACS/RIS across the Trust, supporting all system users and ensuring that the systems are functioning correctly so that the provision of PACS services continues which is clinically imperative.

Job responsibilities

This post will have line management responsibility within the Radiology IT Support Team that provides the efficient management and delivery of all Radiology Clinical Information Systems to ensure continuity of patient care at all times.

To proactively monitor the information systems, interfaces and DICOM modalities to ensure an efficient on going, safe service to the clinical departments.

To be a first point of escalation of for the Trust on issues relation to Radiology IT Systems, proactively seeks to resolve any issues

To lead by example, maintaining IT contacts and promoting high standards of data entry and imaging IT standards.

To ensure all staff receive appropriate training on the use of PACS, RIS, VR and ICE.

To liaise with external suppliers to resolve faults and ongoing maintenance issues.

To identify and develop in conjunction with the CIO, Trust Clinical Systems Manager, ICT Operations Manager, Radiology Services Manager, Radiology IT Systems Manager and other senior colleagues the future software development potential of Radiology IT Systems and changes in working practices to meet the Trusts business needs.

IAA responsibility for both CRIS and PACS. Undertaking any necessary training, audits and ensuring robust documentation/standard operating procedures as maintained

Deputise for the Radiology IT Systems Manager representing the Department and Trust at a range of local, regional and national meetings.

Support the Departmental Modality Leads with managing their Clinical IT platforms.

  • oAt least 5 years practical experience of using patient focused IT based information systems.
  • oAt least 3 years of clinical experience in a radiology environment is desirable.
