Enhanced Clinical Practitioner for vascular services at Dorset County Hospital Foundation Trust (DCHFT), base site with occasional Cross Network opportunities according to development needs

Band 7 with opportunity to progress to Band 8a ACP following completion of accredited ACP qualification

Are you an experienced and dynamic vascular nurse ready to take the next step in your career progression. If so, we are looking for you to join our small team of vascular surgeons, and the wider multi-disciplinary team and as part of the network to provide continuity of care to those patients who require vascular assessment, treatment, and monitoring.

Main duties of the job

The successful vascular ECP will be required to be autonomous inside their scope of practice and accountable for their patient workload with the support of the MDT; responsible for managing practice, using an enhanced level of professional accountability, autonomy, and judgement for highly complex decision-making across a discrete aspect of patient care within the vascular service.

The successful candidate will be expected to utilise enhanced clinical knowledge and skills to holistically assess patients with often complex conditions, using a range of methods across the specialist service.

With support the post holder will be required to develop their skill set through objective setting and constant appraisal and feedback working toward a fully autonomous Advanced Clinical Practitioner role.

About us

Dorset County Hospital (DCH) is a busy site in the wider Dorset and Wiltshire Vascular Network (DWVN), the main site being Bournemouth Hospital. DCH provides a comprehensive outpatient vascular service compromising of general vascular, complex leg ulcer, claudication, diabetic foot, venous disease, and vascular pre-assessment clinics. Clinics are delivered as a mixture of nurse led; doctor led and multi-professional formats.

Dorset County Hospital is also the Major Renal Centre for Dorset and South Somerset and is the only site in the Network with Nephrology Inpatients and the main centre for renovascular workload. There is a Hyper acute stroke unit and complete diabetic foot service including access to foot and ankle surgery, orthotics, and inpatient podiatry.
