Job summary
The Wolverton Centre (Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust ) is looking to recruit a full-time substantive consultant in Sexual Health and HIV. The centre is located on the Kingston Hospital site and prides itself on being a modern and progressive service, providing high quality care for patients presenting with both STI and contraceptive needs, as well as patients living with HIV. A range of clinics; general integrated sexual health, complex (consultant led clinics), and nurse led clinics currently exist across the service and in addition the service has psychology support. There is also a well-established vulval pain service supported by clinical psychology and a newly established tertiary level vulval MDT which is a clinical collaboration between the Gynaecology/Dermatology and Sexual Health consultants and runs a monthly clinic.
The successful candidate will provide clinical care in both the integrated sexual health service and the HIV Service. They will also provide support and training to the clinical team as well as contributing to the clinical governance of the department.
Main duties of the job
Provide GUM and integrated sexual health clinics and cover emergency presentations to the service.
Share the "Duty senior clinician of the day" rota and provide consultant advice and support to the multi-disciplinary team as well as training to the resident doctors.
Undertake one HIV clinic a week and manage emergencies that present to the clinic or acutely unwell to the wards.
Provide clinical advice to in-patient teams who admit patients living with HIV.
Contribute to the out of hours telephone on call service for GUM and HIV.
The opportunity to lead on the digital strategy for the department will be available for candidates with interests in this area.
The post holder will be expected to support service development including establishment of new community services as opportunities arise, to increase access for all patients, but particularly underserved populations in the boroughs that we provide services for.
