Job summary

The senior programme manager will work as part of a dynamic South West London Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) team and will be responsible for shaping and implementing transformation programmes as part of the SWL Elective Programme. This role will support improvement in patient outcomes, access, productivity and service quality across a portfolio of programmes.

The postholder will need to be an experienced project and programme manager with operational experience of delivering change within the NHS or a similar complex environment. They will be an excellent communicator, able to build strong relationships with colleagues and peers across South West London and will work alongside clinicians and operational leaders across the SWL health and care system to ensure delivery of agreed priorities.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Programme Manager is responsible for:

Design of new transformation programmes in close collaboration with relevant clinical leads and senior colleagues.

Responsible for strategic planning and overall management of programmes and projects, including management of specific workstreams.

Organising the project management structure and workstreams.

Establishment and ongoing management of relevant stakeholders and working groups.

Overseeing the full implementation of programmes and projects, ensuring delivery against agreed milestones.

Work flexibly across the APC portfolio and provide cross-cover for other programme areas and senior programme managers as required, ensuring continuity of delivery across the collaborative.

Liaison with ICS providers, clinical leads, GPs, NHSE and other stakeholders.

Drafting business cases and external bids to support funding of programmes.

Leading on the communications and stakeholder engagement strategy for each programme, ensuring key stakeholders are appropriately involved and informed.

The postholder will be highly organised, with excellent time management and attention to detail and be able to adapt to changing programme requirements. They will be a reliable team player who works proactively identifying problems and proposing solutions and alternative courses of action.
