We are seeking aBand 5 Nurseto join ourSouth London Children and Young People's Community Immunisation Service. As aBCG Nurse, you will work across Croydon, Merton, Sutton, Richmond. Kingston, Wandsworth.

Immunisation is a vital part of the Healthy Child Programme. We are looking for an enthusiastic registered nurse to join our BCG immunisation team, delivering the BCG vaccine to babies across Southwest London. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

This is a rewarding and fast-paced role where you will play an important part in protecting babies from preventable disease through timely BCG vaccination.

Main duties of the job

  • To participate in the delivery of theBCG immunisation programme for babies, including administration of vaccines in clinics, community settings, and occasionally in the home.

  • To assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of BCG immunisation sessions across the South London boroughs.

  • To carry out associated administrative duties, including triaging referrals, contacting families, and accurately recording data in line with Trust and national requirements.

  • To provide families with clear, evidence-based information to enable informed decision-making regarding the BCG vaccine.

  • To ensure all vaccinations are delivered in line with Trust policies, national guidance, andNHS England immunisation targets, ensuring safe and effective practice.

  • To contribute to the smooth running of immunisation clinics, including preparation of equipment, stock management, and supporting colleagues during delivery.

  • To support the organisation and delivery of BCG immunisation clinics held within the Trust, ensuring high standards of infection prevention and control.

  • To work flexibly across community clinics and sites according to service need.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • RN Adult (NMC registered) or RN Children (NMC registered) or RMHN (NMC registered) or RM (NMC registered)
  • 5 GSCE's grade 4/C or above, or equivalent, including English and maths

Desirable

  • Mentorship/supervision training
