Advanced Practitioner - Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team within the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) department. SDEC provides care to a variety of patients referred from the Emergency Department (ED) and GP, community, outpatients and ambulance services. The SDEC team is comprised of Medical Consultants, Advanced Practitioners, Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Associates, and Receptionists.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be practicing autonomously as an Advanced Practitioner (AP) to provide patient-centred quality care. This will encompass the skills of advanced assessment, examination, diagnosis and management within an agreed scope of practice. The post holder will work as part of the SDEC AP and overall SDEC multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality service within SDEC to all patients directly referred by GP's, ambulance service, ED, outpatient clinics and community services.

The AP will work within the multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England (HEE 2017). The post holder will dedicate 70% of their time to clinical duties and 30% to leadership and management, education and research activities, encompassing the four pillars of advanced practice.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the Advanced Practitioners/ Consultant/ Service lead. They will work with a high degree of autonomy and employ complex decision making and demonstrate core practice capabilities and area specific clinical competence.

Essential

  • Appropriate professional qualification (nursing or allied health professional) that allows registration with the NMC/ HCPC.
  • Degree level award (level 6) plus postgraduate specialist training, experience, short courses to Master's equivalent level.
  • MSc Level in Advanced Practice OR In the process of gaining recognition with the Centre of Advancing Practice via the e-Portfolio (Supported) Route to demonstrate educational equivalence that all the capabilities of advanced level practice at master's level (level 7) have been met.
  • Independent non-medical prescriber.
  • Certified speciality Courses as service requires

Desirable

  • Undertaken accredited course or gained digital badge accreditation with NHSE Centre for advancing practice.
  • Completed advanced practice accreditation in speciality e.g. RCEM, RCN, full membership MACP.
  • Completed portfolio of supervised practice in speciality.
  • Relevant NHS Leadership qualification or working towards.
  • Recognised Teaching & Assessing qualification or equivalent - Mentorship/ Practice Assessor.

  • Extensive experience within an area of relevant clinical speciality.
