Job summary
Band 6 Sister - Full Time 37.5 hours per week
The Department of Paediatrics & Child Health provides a wide range of acute services, which include 24 inpatient beds (2 high dependency), an established Physical Assessment Unit, Paediatric Ambulatory care Unit, outreach nursing team and dedicated children's outpatients department.
The acute inpatient ward and the physical assessment unit offers a wide range of experience caring for children with general and acute medical, surgical, orthopaedic, oncology conditions and high dependency care. You must have a significant years of experience on a general paediatric ward and proven shift management skills.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to work effectively as part of the team to ensure a high standard of care is provided. They will be responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of care. She/he will co-ordinate care on the children's ward providing clear professional leadership. The post holder will act as an advisor on paediatric issues throughout the Trust out of hours. The post holder will liaise closely with parents/carers and all members of the multidisciplinary team and thus ensure effective communication of all relevant information.
