Specialist Respiratory Clinical Physiologist

Job summary

The post holder will be able to perform a broad range of Respiratory Investigation procedures in the Respiratory diagnostic field to a highly competent and professional standard.

The post holder will possess a degree of specialist knowledge and skills and have experience in one or more specialist areas within Respiratory Medicine.

Main duties of the job

  • lung volume measurements using body plethysmography
  • lung volume measurements using helium dilution technique
  • Gas transfer measurements
  • Spirometry/flow volume loops
  • Bronchodilation assessments
  • Respiratory muscle testing (MIP, MEP and SNIP) and supine/sitting spirometry ( occasionally)
  • FENO (exhaled NO)
  • Overnight oximetry (occasionally)
  • Any other tests deemed necessary by the Head of Department
