Job summary
As part of the ongoing expansion and modernisation of the Royal Eye Unit we are growing our team to ensure we continue to deliver a high standard of care to our local community.
We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic nurse that is passionate about ophthalmology and willing to support its growth. The successful applicant would be expected to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the department to achieve high standards of care. We rely on good team work, excellent communication and interpersonal skills for excellent care.
Our busy department includes - Eye Casualty, Pre-operative assessment , AMD, glaucoma and other ophthalmic sub-specialties services and clinics and you would be expected to rotate throughout each area within the department.
Knowledge and experience working on Ophthalmology outpatient setting is vital for this post.
Main duties of the job
o The post holder will work as an autonomous ophthalmic practitioner undertaking holistic assessment, examination and diagnosis in order to implement management plans for ophthalmic patients.
o The post holder will be accountable for a total episode of care of the patient including assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Also, to discharge or refer patients as appropriate.
o The post holder will work alongside consultants, lead nurse and senior sisters to promote the development of ophthalmology services.
o The post holder will ensure the smooth running of the department, maintain national and organisational targets and will provide clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff.
o Participate in delivery of formal and informal teaching for nursing staff, to act as a resource and role model for junior staff also providing clinical supervision and support to junior staff.
