Job summary
We are looking for a motivated team player, preferably with a history of working in a Histopathology laboratory to enhance our team within the Cellular Pathology department at Kingston Hospital NHS foundation trust.
Some previous experience of working in a busy routine NHS Histopathology Laboratory is desirable. The post holder will be expected to undertake different IT support duties and will be trained to support the laboratory technical side with embedding of samples, microtomy and other simple laboratory tasks. The post holder will be trained on the histopathology technical duties.
Experience of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and confidence with IT programs is essential.
Main duties of the job
Ensure data collection is completed and sent to relevant recipients. Ensure that KPIs are monitored and any concerns raised with the IT lead or service manager. Ensure that IT needs of the department are met and any issues out of scope will be escalated to IT lead or service manager including issues with the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and CRS.
Ensure other administrative tasks within scope of training and competence will be completed.
Ensure safe working laboratory practices in the department in compliance with the Trust and department policies and procedures are met.
Adhere to good quality procedures and practices to ensure continuing provision of a high quality service.
Operate with the quality management and clinical governance processes currently in place in the department.
Undertake other duties that may be required appropriate to training and responsibilities of the grade.
Assist in maintenance of supplies within the department within scope of training.
Assist in the preparation and updating of departmental documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures appropriate to the training received.
