Job summary
A full time, permanent band 3 Senior Decontamination Technician post has arisen to join the dynamic, highly engaged decontamination unit at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The role requires the individual to manually clean contaminated endoscopes, re-process scopes using an endoscopy washer disinfector (EWD) machine, store them in fully automated drying cabinets and obtain weekly water samples for testing. The decontamination unit provides a centralised service for all areas in the Trust which uses flexible endoscopes - including in and out-patient endoscopy, theatres, ITU, urology and ENT. It may also require the individual to work a 4-day roster with a specific day-off, which may include weekends.
Previous experience in endoscopy decontamination is desirable. If without endoscopy/decontamination experience, the successful candidate will initially be offered a Band 2 post. The candidate will go for basic in-house trainings provided by our decontamination supervisors, on-site Wassenburg training for our weekly water testing and a City and Guilds-accredited training on Endoscope Care - all to be done within 6 months, then will be upgraded to a Band 3 post.
**PLEASE NOTE: Due to the volume of applicants received we may close this vacancy early**
