Job summary
We are looking for an Osteoporosis and High-Cost Drugs Administrator who will form an integral part of the multidisciplinary team in caring for patients diagnosed with metabolic bone diseases/osteoporosis and severe chronic inflammatory rheumatological disease.
The role will include you working closely with the High Cost Drugs Co-ordinator and provide support to the Rheumatology Consultant/Nursing team regarding the initial supply and on-going maintenance for the cohort of all patients receiving treatment of drugs.
The successful applicant will need to be organised, be able to maintain systems and processes to monitor and report on the delivery of this growing service. Good communication is essential and be able to work well within a team.
Main duties of the job
To work with Consultants, Nurse Specialists and the High-Cost Drugs Co-ordinator across Rheumatology and the Pharmacy team to provide administrative support to the high cost drugs processes.To work with Consultants and Nurse Specialists across Rheumatology and the Medical Day Unit to provide administrative support for patients on parenteral osteoporosis treatments.To facilitate the early transfer of patients to biosimilar medicines.To check timing and process follow-up appointments, including ensuring blood tests are up to date. To monitor patients through the patient pathway to ensure that care is provided in an efficient and timely fashion and in accordance with treatment guidelines.To ensure that applications to Commissioners are made at agreed intervals in a patient's treatment to ensure ongoing approval of funding and supply of medication.To establish and maintain systems and processes to monitor and report on the delivery of this growing service.To respond to telephone, email and face to face enquiries from patients, Trust staff, Medical Day Unit staff, Homecare Companies, Commissioners. To redirect and prioritise queries as appropriate, ensuring both efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
