Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join the Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist team at Kingston Hospital.

This is a newly created post to work with the paediatric allergy team.We are looking for a dynamic individual with excellent communication skills who will help drive the service forward.

The successful candidate will work with the paediatric multidisciplinary team in the outpatient setting to provide holistic care to children with a broad spectrum of allergic diseases.

You will be supported by the team to develop your allergy knowledge and clinical skills necessary for the role; skin prick testing, spirometry, adrenaline autoinjector training, taking an allergy focused history and performing food challenges.

Alongside specialist training there will be opportunities to contribute to governance in monitoring the quality of nurse led care and audits, provide line management to junior members of the nursing team, contribute to guideline development and quality improvement projects.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as an autonomous expert practitioner alongside members of the multidisciplinary nursing and medical teams. The post holder will develop, implement, and evaluate a seamless allergy service, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of clinical care. They will act as a senior nurse with a level of expertise within the paediatric department, providing specialist advice, education and support to health care professionals and patients. The post holder will actively undertake clinical audits and research within the specialist area.

The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research, and standards of care within the service, including development of policies, protocols and guidelines and contribute to service developments in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.

The post holder will also ensure the safety and well-being of services users, always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centered care principles.
