Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Advance Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our growing Breast Service. We invite applications from experienced Breast ANPs and those looking for a training opportunity (training posts start on a band 7 salary until qualified). You will join a team of three breast surgeons, a nurse consultant and two advanced nurse practitioners, an advanced surgical care practitioner, two breast CNSs, the lead breast CNS and Lead Breast Cancer ANP.
You will be an experienced practitioner, acting within your professional boundaries. You will have the skills to independently undertake history taking, physical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, evaluation of care and nurse prescribing. You will use your knowledge and skills to provide expert, efficient and safe patient care whilst under supervision of a Consultant. You will demonstrate clinical judgement and critical decision-making skills based upon evidence based practice, and work collaboratively with consultants. You will demonstrate expert knowledge and understanding of breast cancer, benign breast diseases and associated treatments.
Main duties of the job
You will practice at an advanced level of professional autonomy and accountability within the multidisciplinary breast team adhering to breast unit guidelines, NICE guidelines and NMC Code of Conduct. You will be a registered general nurse with appropriate experience and/or qualifications.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills, an up-to-date knowledge base and the ability to work autonomously. The role will be demanding at times but extremely rewarding. Kingston Hospital's Breast services are part of the Cancer Unit based at Kingston Hospital, the Cancer Unit is an active member of Royal Marsden Partners (RMP) and the post-holder will be expected to participate in the RMP Breast Care Nursing Group.
