Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly specialist dietitian to join the friendly and dynamic team at Kingston Hospital Foundation Trust. We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and resourceful Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills to work as an integral member of the dietetic and multi professional teams.

You will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based clinical service to the Acute Stroke Unit and provide specialist opinions about long term feeding options to the Care of the Elderly Service Line. It is anticipated that your clinical experience and knowledge will contribute to the development, evaluation and quality improvement of the Acute Stroke Unit and Care of the Elderly Services.

You will support junior staff to develop clinical skills to manage the complex needs of the older adult. You will also work collaboratively with the Nutrition Nurse Specialist on the Trust's artificial nutrition safety and quality initiatives.

Main duties of the job

  • To deliver an efficient and effective nutrition and dietetic service to the Acute Stroke Unit, older adults, and their carers.
  • To support junior staff to develop clinical skills to manage the complex needs of the older adult.
  • As a clinical specialist dietitian, you will work to deliver, develop, evaluate, and audit the service.
  • You will be an educator for health professionals/students involved in the care of stroke patients and older adults.
  • Management of own complex clinical caseload providing specialist nutrition and dietetic advice in specialty fields to include Stroke and Care of the Elderly.
  • Facilitate reflection on the service delivery and identify and support on quality improvement work.
  • To support the nutrition nurse specialist with the Trust's artificial nutrition safety and quality initiatives.
  • To support the work of the volunteering department in the training and work of the Dining Companions.
