Clinical Specialist Ultrasound Sonographer - Band 7 - 8A

You will support our expanding workload in the Radiology Department and/or Maternity Unit. Our reporting software consists of Astraia in Maternity and Soliton and Sectra in Radiology. Equipment is a combination of state of the art GE E10's and E8's. We welcome sonographers of all skill mixes at Kingston Hospital and offer Band 7 - 8A pay scales dependent on qualifications, skill mix and years of experience. Professional development is encouraged at Kingston Hospital and there are opportunities to develop new skills and progress your career. Sonographer skill mix across sites and in satellite clinics is essential.
You must have good communication skills, a flexible approach and attitude (as we are moving to a 7-day working pattern); have a pleasant and friendly manner and be used to working as part of a proactive team.
Managerial responsibility and experience is also ideal for this role. Consideration will also be given to midwife sonographers or sonographers with key skills in obstetrics and gynaecology where a Band 7 role may be considered.
Main duties of the job
- To independently perform and report ultrasound examinations within individual skill mix.
- To be aware of new techniques and practices in ultrasound and to implement them wherever possible.
- To communicate the outcome of scans to the patient (and clinicians) when appropriate, referring to a Radiologist/Specialistif further investigations are required in accordance with department protocols.
- Following the scan provide appropriate support to patients and advise them to return to the referring clinician for the report.
- Issue a report on RIS, ensuring that those patients requiring urgent attention are prioritised in accordance with department protocols.
- Support our expanding workload in the Radiology Department and/or Maternity Unit.
