Job summary

The Lead Nurse will provide visible clinical, professional leadership of nursing staff across the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). The Lead Nurse will work with the Clinical Lead and General Manager as part of the service line Trio, ensuring the nursing voice is represented. The postholder will line manage the Matrons, ensuring high quality patient care is delivered, and facilitate their professional development.

The Lead Nurse is responsible for leading and directing the development of new services and patient care pathways, ensuring they match the needs of patients and the PLACE and System health economy. The Lead Nurse will support wider cluster and divisional work and will advocate for the department to the wider Trust. The Lead Nurse should work in partnership with other Senior Nurses within the Trust to ensure accountability on key performance indicators.

We have an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse to join our Emergency Department at Kingston Hospital.

The Lead Nurse is the nursing leadership for patient care and treatment within the Emergency Department. The role provides support to the clinical teams to ensure that we are delivering high-quality care to all patients who attend the Emergency Department.

You will be accountable for the provision of effective professional nursing leadership and pro-active resource management for care and treatment of patients. The post holder will be expected to create an environment of continuous quality improvement and professional development, ensuring that the delivery of care is regularly reviewed and that service developments are implemented when necessary in conjunction with the clinical lead and service manager.
