Job summary

Our Clinical Management Structure is designed to meet the current challenges, provide a framework for successful delivery and ensure our patients have access to the best services but needs the support of effective financial control.

The Financial Controller is a key leadership role within the Financial Control and Accounting team.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance - Financial Accounting and Control:

  • Be a leading member of the trusts financial accounts team
  • Lead the production of annual published accounts to meet statutory requirements, supported by high quality papers.
  • Lead the production of full accounts on at least a quarterly basis and ensure a database of information is maintained to support all notes to the annual accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Produce detailed annual accounts timetables in January of each financial year, ensuring that the Trust fully complies with guidance in the Manual for Accounts and that all Finance and non-Finance staff are fully cognisant of the requirements of them as part of the process.
  • Produce high quality management information for Board level Committees in relation to financial reporting, this will include monthly financial data for inclusion in Board papers, regular progress reports on statutory accounts to the Audit Committee and specific reports requested by the Finance and Investment Committee and to the Charitable Funds Committee and Estates Committee.
  • Support the Associate Director of Finance - Financial Accounting and Control with input into the annual plans.

About us

We have a friendly and stable finance team who work well together across all functions. The financial accounts team has 14 people in total and includes some very experienced and dedicated individuals. We like to pride ourselves on having an excellent relationship with our stakeholders across the organisation as well as the Trust Executive management team.
