Job summary
A full time, permanent band 3 Senior Decontamination Technician post has arisen to join the dynamic, highly engaged decontamination unit at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The role requires the individual to manually clean contaminated endoscopes, the reprocessing of scopes using an endoscopy washer disinfector (EWD) machine and to store them in fully automated drying cabinets. The decontamination unit provides a centralised service for all areas in the Trust which uses flexible endoscopes - including in and out-patient endoscopy, theatres, ITU, urology and ENT. It may also require the individual to work a 4-day roster, which may include weekends.
Previous experience working in endoscopy decontamination is essential.All staff in Endoscopy work as a cohesive team to respect the privacy and dignity of all patients and ensure a high quality of holistic care. All aspects of personal belief and preference will be respected and patient confidentiality will be maintained at all times.The department provides safe equipment for use in patient care consistent with national and European standards and guidelines related to the decontamination of flexible endoscopes. Our training, policies, procedures, and practices are all intended to support behaviours in line with our values and all staff are expected to uphold these by 'Living Our Values Every day.'
We are a duly accredited institution by the Joint Advisory Group (JAG) on GI Endoscopy.
