Job summary

We are excited to advertise this opportunity for 3.6 wte 8b Principal Personality Disorder Therapist's to lead our personality disorders therapy provision in Waltham Forest, Havering, Redbridge, and Barking & Dagenham.

In 2023, part of the Psychological Professions Review aimed to integrate Psychological Professions into the community mental health teams (Mental Health and Wellness Teams) to work more collaboratively and consider holistic care for service users. The second phase of the integration is to include IMPART (Intensive Management of Personality disorder: Assessment and Recovery Team) as a specialist service in this integration.

The targets and objectives for this organisational change programme are to:oAlways put the service user at the heart of service delivery and provide the best possible opportunity to support recovery and optimum level of function, through a people centric approach which is founded in co-production, evidence-based practice and innovation.oEnhance patient experience with appropriate referrals and discharges being more actively and speedily considered with Personality Disorder specialist embedded within the mental health teams.oEnhancing communication between disciplines to facilitate consistent and more effective care delivery for this complex client group.oIncrease efficiency and productivity of working hoursoWhere appropriate ensure smooth transfer of care of young adults from ONEL DBT or CAMHS

Probationary Period

Starting with Us

NELFT places great importance on new starters being properly welcomed into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will also have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend several drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,192 to a maximum of £2,011 p.a. pro rata for part time).

Education

Essential

  • Core professional masters level and above training in: nursing, occupational therapy, social work, or clinical or counselling psychology
  • A minimum of two years post qualification experience in working with complexity and psychological therapies
  • Additional specialist post-graduate training relevant to this pathway (e.g. DBT)
  • Professional registration with the appropriate body (e.g. HCPC, BABCP)

Experience

Essential

  • A thorough knowledge of evidence based clinical practice and a commitment to keeping abreast of new evidence basedpractice developments in psychology and those specific to personality disorder.
  • At least two years post graduate experience of working with high levels of risk and severe mental health difficulties
  • Experience of applying NICE compliant therapies relevant to the target population (e.g DBT)
  • Knowledge of research, design and methodology.
  • Experience of working in adult secondary care services or specialist personality disorder service or care pathway
