The Kent Crisis Response Team is seeking skilled Band 6 Crisis Practitioners to join our dedicated county-wide service supporting children and young people in mental health crisis. We offer flexibility around night and weekend shifts -- ideal if you're seeking work-life balance or looking to enhance your experience alongside your current role.
About the Service
Our Crisis Response Team provides rapid assessments within 4 hours for children and young people presenting in crisis across Kent. We're a community-based service, working collaboratively with families, schools, and professionals to provide timely support and reduce the need for hospital admissions.
You'll be a qualified professional (Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or equivalent) with registration to your professional body (NMC/HCPC). You'll have:
- Experience working with children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties, including crisis presentations.
- Confidence in autonomous assessment, risk management, and formulation of care plans.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, compassionate approach.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding, child development, and family systems.
- Flexibility and the ability to travel across Kent when required.
Main duties of the job
- Providecomprehensive crisis assessments in the community or school settings for children and young people experiencing acute mental health needs.
- Deliver brief, evidence-based interventions to promote recovery and resilience.
- Support families and carers to understand and manage mental health challenges.
- Work closely with partner agencies to coordinate safe and effective care plans.
- Contribute to the early identification and prevention of mental health difficulties in young people.
