Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with the hearing screening of newborn babies within NELFT.
We currently have a vacancy for a Band 3, Full-Time position. This will involve working bank holidays on a rota basis and covering one weekend in four. The team is based at Queens Hospital, Romford, but you will also be required to cover Community Clinics.
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is organized and methodical to join our 'family-friendly' and dedicated Newborn Hearing Screening team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as good computer skills are required. Experience of working in a hospital environment and baby handling skills are desirable.
We are looking for someone who has previous Newborn Hearing Screening experience, and is qualified to screen
OR
Someone who is interested in training as a Newborn Hearing Screener and has a good standard of education with a minimum of GCSE Maths and English or equivalent. The candidate will be required to complete a Level 3 Diploma for Health Screening (within an agreed timescale) including the NHSP eLearning modules and an External Competency Assessment ECA). This involves a range of written, oral and practical assessments. (This qualification requires work in the employees own time for a period up to 24 months).
Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the Newborn Hearing Screening team participating in the hearing screening of newborn babies, under the supervision of the Local NBHS Manager. To promote a professional, welcoming and caring environment endorsing a family friendly approach to care. Adhering to National Guidelines and local policies and procedures and to gather and accurately record clinical and test data relevant to the hearing screening process. This post will involve the direct handling of newborn babies and contact with parents.

Starting with Us
NELFT places great importance on new starters being properly welcomed into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will also have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend several drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941p.a. pro rata for part time).
