Job summary

Due to additional funding, there is an exciting opportunity to expand the already well-established Special school and complex needs nursing team in Redbridge.

We are looking for registered Paediatric nurses, who will work within the Complex needs nursing/Specialist School Nursing Team, supporting a defined caseload of children and young people aged 0-19 years with complex healthcare needs and disabilities within the community and educational settings. You will assess, manage, plan and deliver care, being professionally and legally accountable.

The post holder will have interest/knowledge in tissue viability, training and development, to enhance the service offered to the children on the caseload. You will also support your colleagues and share your knowledge.

The post holder will work with children with a range of learning disabilities and complex health needs, in partnership with other professionals and agencies in order to meet identified care needs. The nursing team establish and maintain effective communication, working closely with parents and carers, education and other agencies to ensure the children achieve their full potential in school.

Main duties of the job

1 Working as an autonomous member of the Community Team, supporting a defined caseload of children aged 0-19 years with complex healthcare needs and disabilities within the community settings.

The post holder will carry out clinical procedures in partnership with other professionals and agencies in order to meet identified care needs.

The post holder will establish and maintain effective communication with children aged 0-19 years, parents and carers, colleagues and multidisciplinary teams in order to achieve a positive health status for the child and family.

The post holder will have aspecial interest in Tissue Viability and specialist training and the development of this across the targeted nursing team.

Working as part of a team supporting each other and ensuring the health needs of the children are met.

The service covers all year through, core service hours are Monday-Friday 9-5.

4-6 weekly supervision with team lead. 3 monthly and ad-hoc safeguarding supervision.

Regular team meetings.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941) pro rata for part time staff.
