Job summary

We are looking for enthusiastic CBT therapists /Psychologists/Psychotherapist to provide therapy for clients within the Kent and Medway All Age Eating Disorder Service.

The post-holder will be a post-graduate qualified psychological practitioner (e.g. clinical psychologist, family therapist, CBT therapist) or graduate qualified health care professional (e.g. nurse, social worker, occupational therapist), fully registered with the appropriate professional or regulatory body (e.g. HCPC, NMC) and with an additional post-graduate qualification in Psychological Therapies (e.g. cyp-iapt post graduate diploma in systemic family practice/cognitive behavioural therapy).

The post holder will be a member of the Kent and Medway all age eating disorder service.

The post holder will be required to assess and treat all age patients who present with an eating disorder. The post holder will have support of other team members in the management of these cases. As the service is exclusively an outpatient service, the post holder will not hold an inpatient case load, but the post holder will work with adolescent units where young people are admitted from the geographical areas in order to maintain joint working and smooth transition into and out of inpatient beds.

Main duties of the job

To provide evidence-based interventions including family and individual cognitive behavioural interventions to service users and their families seen within the Kent and Medway eating disorders team using specialist knowledge and breadth of understanding of child and adolescent mental health theories, evidence-based assessments and interventions and to manage complex cases.

To take an active role in developing the research activities of the team and audit and interpret complex data to develop own and others understanding of mental disorders.

To provide specialist assessments and evidence-based interventions for service users with an eating disorder.

To provide consultation and advice to members of own team and other teams on psychological issues, primarily Family Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural models of understanding eating disorders in young people.

To provide consultation and advice on risk assessment and risk management of service users with an eating disorder to members of own team and other teams.

To provide supervision to staff on Family therapy based or cognitive-behavioural interventions as appropriate with service users with an eating disorder.

To undertake research into eating disorders.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.
