Job summary

Band 6 Occupational Therapist - Redbridge Home Treatment Team

We are seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team at the Redbridge Home Treatment Team based at Goodmayes Hospital. We are a HTAS accredited mental health crisis service that offers adults of working age the least restrictive option and an alternative to hospital admission using a holistic approach. Additionally we facilitate early discharge from hospital. For a long time we were the only HTT offering OT provision in London and are planning to expand the service.

Main duties of the job

When in a mental health crisis it can affect one's ability to function. You will therefore have a pivotal role in ensuring patients receive a high standard of Occupational Therapy care throughout the OT process. You will have the opportunity to develop your understanding and application of the OT process within a mental health crisis service.

To undertake comprehensive standardised assessments and risk assessments to co-produce meaningful goals and 1:1 interventions.

To signpost/refer to appropriate services in the community.

To develop, and jointly facilitate group interventions

To ensure carers and family are included and supported in care planning.

The service offers the opportunity to build on experience and working in a mental health setting through completing generic mental health assessments, in the community and on the wards. This is negotiable

To complete generic home visits based on service needs as required however prioritising OT provision.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,551 to a maximum of £5,735 p.a. pro rata for part time).
