Job summary

Community Nurse (Thurrock) - Band 5

We are welcoming applications from Registered Adult Nurses or students approaching the end of their training for our Band 5 Community Nurse vacancy in Thurrock.

Come and join our Community Nursing Team in Thurrock, Essex - a great location which benefits from mixedrural and urban areas.

On your days off you may wish to visit nearby seaside locations, a variety of country parks or take advantage of easy access toLondon with world class entertainment, restaurants, and cultural venues. Nearer to home there are great shopping amenities available atLakeside and Bluewater.

The cost ofrenting orpurchasing of property is lower than London, which makes Essex a great place to relocate to.

Main duties of the job

You will be working with a diverse community enabling you to develop knowledge and skills around differing cultural perspectives whilst delivering nursing care. We work in patients own homes and residential care homes. Our patients are over the age of 18 with a predominant physical nursing need. (Please note that this is not a position within a Community Mental Health team).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,258 and a maximum payment of £2,122 per annum pro rata).

Applications from students and newly qualified nurses are welcome as we can offer you a comprehensive induction and local preceptorship programme.

The ideal candidate must be a registered nurse (Part 1) registered with the NMC and will work as a member of the Integrated Community team, working within and across professional and organisational boundaries. Liaising with GPs, other professionals and statutory and voluntary agencies, he/she will deliver individualised care to patients under the supervision of the Senior Nurse.
