NELFT are looking to appoint a confident Senior HR Advisor with a proven track record of providing a comprehensive employee relations service, whilst successfully managing a varied and demanding caseload, and meeting strict deadlines.

This exciting opportunity will involve frequent engagement with staff at various levels, ensuring a truly customer focused service is delivered. You will have the opportunity to be involved in specific Service specific and Trust-wide projects.

The successful candidate will provide advice and support to line managers on a range of human resource management issues including change management and individual employee relations issues such as discipline, grievance and workplace resolution, performance management and sickness absence management. An overarching function of the role will be to develop the skill and capacity of managers to empower them to manage people issues effectively and independently.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a driven Senior People Adviser who will be able to demonstrate experience of successfully managing a varied and demanding caseload, and meeting strict deadlines.

The post holders will work in partnership with the People Services to:

  • provide an effective People Service to managers in dealing with and managing all aspects of employee relations including complex cases.
  • be proactive in ensuring that issues are dealt with appropriately and resolved at the earliest stage possible in accordance with policy timescales.
  • be part of the team actively contributing to the People Services directorate to provide an effective, efficient and quality ER service.

The successful candidate will be level 7 CIPD qualified. They should have significant experience in delivering front line human resources advice and guidance, including investigations, disciplinary hearings and performance / absence management/ management of change and grievances.As a developmental opportunity from a Band 5 into 6, we welcome applications from candidates who are at least level 5 CIPD qualified and would be willing to undertake the Level 7 CIPD / Advanced Diploma Qualification or to go through the competency assessment with CIPD to be accredited as a Chartered Member.

You will be supported to gain the necessary qualification / accreditation in employment. The Trainee entry level post will be paid at a band 5, please see the Job description attached.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% - 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,192 to a maximum of £5,436). HCAS payment is dependant on workbase location.
