Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic band 5 physiotherapist passionate about rehabilitation to join the Band 5 physiotherapy rotational scheme within the Waltham Forest Rehabilitation Services.

Due to internal promotion the opportunity has arisen to join the rotation between the community rehabilitation team and the inpatient rehabilitation unit - Ainslie Rehab Unit.

The Waltham Forest Community Rehabilitation Service is multidisciplinary and provides the residents of the London Borough of Waltham Forest with intensive rehabilitation either in a bedded unit or at home.

Excellent communication skills are essential as well as good knowledge of current Physiotherapy best practice and the ability to work as an effective team member across a multi-professional team.

As part of the Waltham Forest Rehabilitation services we can offer you:

  • Regular clinical and managerial supervision from experienced physiotherapists.
  • A programme of In-service training
  • Training and development opportunities
  • A dedicated AHP Preceptorship programme (This programme is a supportive programme to assist you with the transition from a learner/newly registered staff member to a fully autonomous healthcare practitioner.)

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the post:

  • To work flexibly and assist in effective and efficient delivery of the service.
  • The post holder will utilise a range of skills and experience gained in clinical practice to perform a specialist, comprehensive assessments using clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques to formulate a treatment plan based on clinical findings.
  • To assess the physiotherapy needs of patients presenting with a range of complex diagnosis and symptoms. These can include chronic, acute and palliative care within own competencies, recognising own limitations and seeking advice when necessary.
  • To provide patients and relatives with information and education thus ensuring they have meaningful choices that promote dignity, independence and quality of life.
  • To working within the context of a multidisciplinary team liaising with other team members and with external agencies.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High-Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436).
