Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our well established Integrated Adult Community Rehabilitation Therapy Team.

Basildon and Wickford ICT community service is a forward-thinking and innovative service that works in a fully integrated way, with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, district nurses and community matrons all working side by side to ensure an integrated and holistic approach to the people accessing the community services.

Our community rehab team assesses housebound adults within their home environment. By assessing people within their home environment, we are in a good position to significantly improve people's quality of life and promote independence at home by providing therapy as well as by jointly working with occupational therapists, the other members of our integrated team and having close links with social services ,therefore making this a very rewarding job.

Main duties of the job

1. To provide a high standard of assessment and diagnosis, based on clinical findings, develop and implement an individualised treatment programme in conjunction with the patient referred to the Basildon and Wickford Therapy team .2. Educate and train Junior and Students, Rehabilitation Assistants and other members of the ICT .3. To be an active member of the in-service training programme.4. Maintain own competence through CPD.5. To act as appraiser of junior staff, using the service appraisal model to facilitate staff development and the production of a PDP for the junior.6. To maintain good professional standards of behaviour and appearance.7. To undertake the collection of data for use in service audit, and departmental research initiatives.

The successful candidates will be highly organised individuals with excellent communication skills and a wide range of clinical experience. The ability to travel efficiently across the geographical area covered by NELFT is essential.

Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,192 to a maximum of £2,011 p.a. pro rata for part time).

  2. To be responsible for organising and prioritising own caseload in the day to day allocation of work, whilst being able to work flexibly to meet the needs of their patients, their relatives and carers and the service.
  3. To work autonomously as a lone worker in the community.
  4. To deputise when required in your seniors absence and delegate appropriately to more junior members of staff, support workers and rehabilitation assistants with guidance as appropriate.
  5. To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly administration of medicine and moving and handling.
  6. To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
  7. To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.
