Job summary

The post holder will work in the EIP as a band 5 care coordinator/CPN providing care to service users in the community. Carrying out assessment, caseload management, risk management, administration of depot injection, support in running physical health clinic, provide duty cover as well as other responsibilities that are highlighted on the main job description.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arise for a band 5 Community Mental Health Nurse within Havering Early Intervention in Psychosis Team. The team currently cover the age range of 14-64yrs

It operates on the 14 day referral to treatment model for first episodes in psychosis.

You should be a Registered Mental Health Nurse registration/qualification, good written and verbal communication skills, be able to work as part of a team and demonstrate an understanding of mental health issues with experience of dealing with emotional distress.You will be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of care including working/liaising with multi-disciplinary teams and other agencies in the provision of care and have the ability to engage service users and relatives with empathy and compassion.

The successful candidate will have a caseload of service users that they are responsible for under CPA.

The team is multidisciplinary comprising of Nurses . OT , psychologist's and Consultant psychiatrist.

There are regular opportunities for further training including Family Intervention and CBTp.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Havering

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,108 to a maximum of £5,177)

Essential

  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Diploma or degree in Mental Health Nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse - Mental Health registration

Desirable

  • Mentoring and Enabling Learning in a Practice Setting

Experience

  • Proven experience of working with people with complex and severe mental health needs
  • To have worked as a case worker/named nurse/care co-ordinator

Knowledge

  • An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF and clinical governance priorities
  • Understanding the main aspects of the recovery approach and psychosocial models of care.

  • Basic awareness of IT and IT skills
